Cobalt Blue Datura Pipe

Cobalt Blue Datura Pipe

This is the newest edition of our flagship pipe. A Datura plant is hand-glazed on a fine porcelain pipe with cobalt oxide. Clear glaze is applied overtop, and an iron-red glaze painted onto the bottom. The excess glaze is shaved off the embossed logo so the white porcelain stands out against the red of the glaze, and the pipe is fired again. Because each pipe is glazed by hand, no two are the same.

Datura has been used for centuries as a medicinal and psychoactive substance. It can increase the heart-rate and dilate pupils, which has earned its active molecules a place in the modern medical pharmacopeia. But it’s Datura’s hallucinogenic and deliriant properties that made it an object of sacred devotion. Western indigenous peoples used it for contacting guiding spirits, the souls of the dead, and locating lost objects and places. Modern users often describe hellish visions of nightmare-like intensity and profound amnesia and delirium. Datura is a plant with dual lives, sacrament and poison, heaven and hell.

Our pipes are fired to 2250 degrees to create strong, durable ware which will last as long as you let it. Its elegant and ergonomic design has been tested and refined for ease of use. 100% American made.
Your health is important to us. Our glazes are non-toxic (conforms to ASTM D-4236) and safe at all temperatures.
